Spring Planting

Spring is here!  Students are researching, choosing and planting seeds in milk cartons.  I always think it's such an old fashioned thing, but it works, its cheap and easy to find.  This 5th grade classroom has milk carton planters all around the classroom but mostly on their desks so they can keep an eye out for sprouts.  We'll check back with them in a few days.  Happy Spring!!

Lil Sprouts Garden Club, an after school garden program, has challenged other area school gardens to a "Peas to the Table" competition earlier this month.  Our gardeners learned about a similar school gardens competition from 2012 and decided to have our own local one.

LSGC is working with one of our dads who manages the area organic blueberry gardens.  He has a "secret" ingredient we have added to our composted soil with a promise that the peas grow, grow, grow!  LSGC is counting on that!!  Will  let you know how well it works...  (photos coming!)
